The thousands twinkling stars in the sky,<br />
Points me to the realm of dream,I want to fly.<br />
<br />
My mind is a clouded space where logic dwells,<br />
Distorting my balance with sights,sounds & smells.<br />
<br />
My reason is loosing the grip on my sense,<br />
I am living is past & not in present tense.<br />
<br />
I see , I feel, I breathe,I live in my dreams,<br />
I am awake but my mind is lost it seems.<br />
<br />
My heart is aching for the woman who is so far,<br />
I fight against time with the hope to be together<br />
<br />
The rain, the sun,the wind , the hail are just passing by me,<br />
I am drowned for the woman on the other side of Arabian sea. <br />
<br />
My heart , it skips a thousand beat,<br />
Waiting for the day when we meet!<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Climbing Mt Everest was her life long dream. She has prepared for it mentally,physically and financially for the past 10 years.Wandering impatiently in the 'Base Camp' she picks up the phone to call her dad for his blessing. Her dad has been her mentor since birth. When her</span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"> mom passed away her dad ensured that she made it big in the big bad world. His support was key in her dream for conquering the Mt Everest.She knew that for the next one week she will be cut off from the world and will be walking towards the highest point in the world,which she has dreamt for the past decade.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">She stood there on the top with the tricolor in her hand. The very thin air on the summit smelt like success. She had done what only a few Indian women have achieved. It was a proud moment in her life. </span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">All she wanted now was to race down the mountain and tell her dad exactly how she felt standing on the top of the world! He deserved to share that moment with her.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">......</span></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">After reaching the base camp she switched on the mobile.Immediately she dialed her dad.She was excited. No one picked up the call after many rings. Then her phone beeped with all the undelivered messages from the past week rushing to fill the inbox. She opened the topmost message. It was from her neighbor, it read "Your Father had passed away this morning"!</span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I never knew the reason why i was neglected. My master was a nice man but he liked 'Bozo',the dog, more than me. He would come from the field and Bozo would run to him and bark at him. He would get down from the horse and pet him. I miss that. I feel the need to be loved and petted like Bozo. In winter Bozo got the cozy corner near the fireplace ,In the rainy season Bozo got the shade of his fashionable dog house,In the summer Bozo got a personal wash by master on weekends. I yearn for those moments in my life.</span></div>

</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span lang="EN-US">In the last
few weeks Aadhar or UID project is under lots of scrutiny. The question today
is “to be or not to be” a part of this process. Although I am not a big fan of Aadhar
card but some where I feel it’s very important to have a UID number allocated
to all legitimate citizen of India. </span></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">
</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span lang="EN-US">Let’s look
at this from technical perspective. We need to have a centralized database for
citizen of India and UID will be the primary key of that database. So the
question is what will happen to PAN Card, Voters Id card, Passport etc? The
secondary question is how this UID can be linked with other services used by
the citizen like telephone, internet, cooking gas etc? </span></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span lang="EN-US">The solutions to these questions can be arrived by a two step process:</span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span lang="EN-US"><br /></span></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span lang="EN-US"><b>1) <u>Existing Citizens</u></b> </span></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">
</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span lang="EN-US">The government
should first create a web site(secured) where people can voluntarily declare their
PAN/PASSPORT/VOTER CARD details through online registration. For rural sector
they can do the same through BDO offices and Panchayats. Once these data is
filled then government should verify the data(along with citizenship authentication) and issue an UID to the user(online). </span></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">
</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span lang="EN-US">Once this
is done the user can declare his birth certificate number/ marriage
registration / phone / bank / cooking gas details in the same site. Since every
facility is attached with identification document which is collected by the
service provider so the government can ask the service provider to link those
accounts with this UID.</span></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">
</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span lang="EN-US">Thus at the
end of the process all the physical entities will become attached with UID of
the person. Off course this will require verification and validation but
atleast most documents would become traceable.</span></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">
</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span lang="EN-US">The last
step should be voluntary collection of biometrics and adding them against this
UID. This process should take huge time considering the population of India.</span></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span lang="EN-US"><b><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span lang="EN-US">2) <u>New Citizens</u></span></span></span></b> </span></span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">
</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span lang="EN-US">The
government should ensure that all person born after a certain date should get
an UID along with birth certificate so that when the person grows up all his
documents can automatically be linked to his UID.This will
ensure that after 50 years or so all Indian citizen will be covered under UID. This will also solve the citizenship issue.</span></span></span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Hospitality here is
personal and the best i have witnessed. The manager Mr Ajit ensured that
we spend each of the 3 days in absolute indulgence in terms of
safaris,food and comfort. No matter what we demanded he would ensure
that it was met with utmost urgency. In fact he ensured that he
personally spend some quality during breakfast/lunch/dinner with us to
ensure that we were enjoying our stay.Since it was our "Anniversary"
trip so we were greeted to special breakfast and surprise cake after
dinner on that day. It was such innumerable small gestures that made this
trip memorable. </span><br />

<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Coming back to the trip. Our package consisted of 3 trips to Tala and Magadhi(Zones in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve)and Chaubey-ji(Naturalist) ensured that he shared his 25 years of experience in Bandhavgarh with us in each of these trips. We were lucky to spot lots of animals,birds,orchids all thanks to Chaubey-ji and his assistants. If you are comfortable with Hindi then it would be highly advisable to take Chaubey-ji with you on these trips. There is one more naturalist in THH,Kshitij. Although he was not with us on our trips, he would ensure that he shares his experience with us everyday whenever we crossed each other. It was very generous of him to lend me his camera lens for 2 days to ensure that i get some good shots. It was such small gestures that made us belong to this place.</span><br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">The food in THH is lip smacking to say the least. Their chef prepared some awsome cusines and never repeated any dish throughout our stay. It was like a Master Chef Kitchen menus everyday in an obscure jungle. If you are a foodie then you will enjoy it here. All other staffs were equally friendly and courteous and ensured that we were comfortable during our stay.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">So i would highly recommend a holiday with Tree House Hideway if you are planning to visit Bandhavgarh. I know many people complain about lack of room service / lack of mobile service etc here, but if you want to enjoy nature then get out of your rooms and comfort zone and switch off your gadgets and feel it in the right spirit. Yes there are some wild animals in THH property but they rarely get in your way. You might get lucky to see some civet cat in your room if you keep food items in open but then again without these small exchange with the wild your trip would remain incomplete. This place is one of the Unique and Unusual hotel i have ever stayed. I plan to come back here again whenever i can and recommend all as well.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Madhya Pradesh has nine National Parks and twenty five Sanctuaries. It is known as the Tiger State of India and has the distinction of having the highest tiger population in the country. It has six tiger reserves which are fast developing into important destinations for tourists from all over the world. The most famous of them all are Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Panna and Pench.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Bandhavgarh is a small National Park; compact, yet full of game. The density of the Tiger population at Bandhavgarh is the highest known in India. This is also White Tiger country. These have been found in the old state of Rewa(Rewa merged into Madhya Pradesh later) for many years. The last known was captured by Maharajah Martand Singh in 1951. This White Tiger, Mohan, is now stuffed and on display in the palace of the Maharajahs of Rewa. </span></div>

<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Covering 448 sq. km., Bandhavgarh is situated in Umaria district among the outlying hills of the Vindhya range. At the centre of the park is Bandhavgarh hill, rising 811 mt above MSL. Surrounding it are a large number of smaller hills separated by gently sloping valleys. These valleys end in small, swampy meadows, locally known as 'Bohera'. The lowest point in the park is at Tala (440 mt above MSL). The vegetation is chiefly of Sal forest in the valleys and on the lower slopes, gradually changing to mixed deciduous forest on the hills and in the hotter, drier areas of the park in the south and west. Bamboo is found throughout.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">There is a fort present in Bandhavgarh.No records remain to show when Bandhavgarh Fort was constructed. It is thought, however, to be some 2,000 years old, and there are references to it in the ancient books, the Narad-Panch Ratra and the Siva Purana. Various dynasties have ruled this fort: for example, the Maghas from the 1st century AD, the Vakatakas from the 3rd century; the Sengars from the 5th century and the Kalchuris from the 10th century. In the 13th century AD, the Baghels took over, ruling from Bandhavgarh until 1617, when Maharajah Vikramaditya Singh moved his capital to Rewa. The last inhabitants deserted the fort in 1935.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">These are some of the statistics associated with Bandhavgarh. Now the question is how to reach Bandhavgarh? The best possible way to reach Bandhavgarh is either to reach Satna, Jabalpur or Katni railway station. Since we went from Pune so we took a train from Pune to Kalyan Jn to avail the Muzzafarpur fast passenger which arrives in Katni the next day early morning. Bandhavgarh is about 90 Kms from Katni railway station. You can avail local transport or ask your hotel for a pickup service to reach Bandhavgarh. Just remember that roads near Bandhavgarh are very bad and it may take lot more time than you anticipate during your trip planning. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Bandhavgarh Forest is divided into Tala , Magdhi, Khitauli and Panpatta zones. The maximum probability of Tiger viewing is there in Tala and Magdhi zones (Tale is the prime zone). So before you go there you must ensure that you have booked your slots for Safari’s in these zones. After the New Supreme Court order the number of safaris are reduced to 1/3rd and so there is lot of rush for this. The Safaris are mostly done by Jeep or Elephant. You can visit <a href="https://mponline.gov.in/portal/services/forest/finalforest/foresthome.htm" target="_blank">MP Forest Department site</a> for more details about booking and tariff of such safari’s. You can also do the booking through your hotels. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Charger was the first known male tiger of Bandhavgarh. Charger, an animal so named because of his habit of charging at elephants and tourists (whom he nonetheless did not harm), was the first healthy male known to be living in Bandhavgarh since the 1990s. A female known as Sita, who once appeared on the cover of National Geographic and is considered the most photographed tiger in the world was also to be found in Bandhavgarh for many years. Almost all the tigers of Bandhavgarh today are descendants of Sita and Charger. Their daughter Mohini, son Langru and B2 also maintained their tradition for frequent sighting and moving close to tourist jeeps. Charger died in 2000 and his body was buried at Charger Point where he was kept in a closed region at his old age. Between 2003 and 2006, many of his descendants met with a series of unfortunate ends. B1 was electrocuted and B3 was killed by poachers. Sita was killed by poachers. Mohini died of serious wounds to her body. After the death of Charger, the fully grown B2 survived as the dominant male in the forest between 2004 and 2007. He also became the strongest tiger in the world.</span><br />

He was named Bamera. Bamera was first sighted in 2008 and is now Bandhavgarh's dominant male. In November 2011, B2 died. Postmortem studies suggest that he died a natural death. But many other professional people, who know more than the officials, say that he was injured by the villagers of the village in the buffer area.Now, the most prominent tiger in Bandhavgarh National Park is Bamera, who has territory in all the four zones of the park. The females are Kankatti and Panpatti who both have three and two cubs respectively. <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><span lang="EN"></span><br /></span>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Never in the history of modern cinema have a man who is 50 years and 23 films old have appealed to people across generation like James Bond. Sitting and watching the latest James Bond movie ‘Skyfall’ along with an octogenarian couple reminded me of the charisma of the man who had defined ‘adventure with class & style’ genre of movies. I am pretty sure the couple sitting behind me must have watched Sir Sean Connery bringing out Ian Flemings character from books to silver screen with the funding of Albert R. Broccoli. They must have witnessed Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan & Daniel Craig pass on the mantle of 007 serving Her Majesty’s secret service as a part of MI6. It’s indeed a long journey of a successful franchise. Barring Harry Potter no other franchise has survived this long.</span><br />
<div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">My early memories of James Bond rovers around Pierce Brosnan. We grew up seeing him revitalize this franchise after not so memorable Timothy Dalton who has succeeded in withering away the fan following of 007. </span></div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">James Bond has always personified a character with conflicting attitudes and yet he remained as the ultimate personification of male ego. Right from his shoes, glasses, watch and even his car had become a statement of style across generations. His womanizing skills have been tried and tested by generations. I will not go into the success rate of this method but I am sure that the fairer sex has borne the brunt of it. Every guy at some point of his life ordered ‘Vodka with Martini, shaken not stirred’ to the bartender. Such was the charisma of this secret service agent that people copied his way of introduction – ‘My name is Bond, James bond’. It’s another matter that it did not work out too well in some parts of India where the middle name tends to overshadow the first and last name by its sheer length.</span></div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig have been the two Bond actors whom I have seen in the short span of my life so far. Undoubtedly Pierce Brosnan was better but in an uncanny way Daniel Craig portrayed a more Humane Bond. A Bond that feels pain bleeds when hurt, gets over powered physically. I think both these talented actors have done justice to the character of 007</span></div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">After seeing ‘Skyfall’ the only question that I had in my mind was “What Next?” . We have seen Department Q Change, Money Penny Change, M Change, So is it time for Daniel Craig to go? It would be rather interesting to see how this franchise reboots itself? The succession of Daniel Craig from Pierce Brosnan wouldn’t have been easy if the directors did not decide to change the character of James Bond. </span></div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">"Skyfall” marks the 50th year of for the man who lived life on edge. I am sure all the fans want to see more of Bond in the coming years. This is one man who gives me a chance to talk to my dad regarding movies, lifestyle and adventure and compare the same across both generations</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I can’t but leave this chance to punch in a few lines on the review of “Skyfall”. Overall it’s a better movie than ‘Quantum of Solace’ but I guess ‘Casino Royale’ was just a few notches above it. The director(Sam Mendes) tries to give the villain more of ‘Joker’ like <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>characteristic but that just adds to the melodrama and since his cause for revenge is not well elaborated so the audiences does not feel connected to his pathos. The central storyline lacks the thrill which is a characteristic of Bond movies. This Bond movie plays with finer human emotions running across each character. Their vulnerability and inner conflicts forms the driving force with keeps the audience rolling. Yes the set piece actions are good but I guess that’s what we expect from 007.</span></div>

<span lang="EN"></span><br />
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
There are people who are legends, there are people for whom the statistics speak and then there are people who inspires. These people are not role model but they silently prove their point through sheer determination and performance. As I was watching the recent WI vs Nz one day cricket tournament, the performance of Christopher Henry "Chris" Gayle inspired me beyond reason. </div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
This man is probably one of the finest and most destructive player after Viv Richards that Jamaica have produced. Brian Lara certainly enjoys the title of "Legend" but Chris Gayle through his performance has lifted his status to a level where he is a sure match winner on his day. His performance in T20 over the past 3 years is nothing short of legendary folklore.<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"> </span></span><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">In the 2011 IPL he scored more IPL runs than any other batsman – 608 at an average of 67.55 and strike-rate of 183.13 – and in 2012 did better with 733 runs at a strike-rate of 160.74, scoring eight 50-plus scores, the most in IPL 5. After lighting up the past two IPL seasons with some tremendous hitting, and treating fans in Bangladesh, Australia and Zimbabwe to some audacious Twenty20 innings. His Test and One day records are also envying by any standard. This has not only made him richest cricketer in his country but also has compelled his corrupt cricket board to reconsider their decision to drop him from National squad.</span></span></div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
In India there are few cricketers who have stood against the BCCI and yet made progress in their career. Their careers have been cut short and most of them have faded away. The same thing could have happened to Chris Gayle. But he never gave up. He played with such a fearless cricket that bowlers across the world were nervous to bowl against him. The people who once wrote him off were forced to re-consider his talent. If you take a look at Wikipedia for Chris Gayle and go through the section "Controversies" you will realize that all the charges points to one fact that he has spoken out against the Organization that control the fate of cricket players in his country. The result was the loss of 2 years of his international career. But his love and dedication of for the game actually forced these people to take him back. This is called the power of performance.</div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
We often find that in our day to day lives, decision made by organizations around us may not be always in favor of our well being. We try and raise our voice, sometimes as individual & sometimes as group but when the organization turns around to fight most of us leaves the ground. This brings us to the most important question "<i>Is it necessary that the Organization has to be correct, always</i>"? Organizations are made of people and it’s the level of commitment and integrity of the people that defines the stature of the organization. Yes the guidelines of the organizations are good to follow but it’s never too bad to question them. If Pythagoras & Aristotle did not stand against the social notion that the earth is flat then we would have done centuries of research based on a wrong social concept. Similarly if Raja Rammohan Ray did not stand against the social norm of ‘Sati’ then we would have lost many souls to this practice. Even today there are decisions taken by the government or the housing society in which you live or in the company where you work, which may not always be in the best interest of people. In these situations what should we do? </div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
There is no right answer to this question. But if you look at what Chris Gayle have done, you will realize that he has stood his ground and have displayed a passion for his the game which allowed him to sail through the turbulence. If you stand for a cause which is right and will benefit the well being of people then you should stand your ground. Giving up is not an option but sailing forward is the way ahead but the important thing is that one should be true and honest to ones work. The key lesson here is "the power of performance". If you perform well in your field then one way or the other you will be recognized or forced to be recognized.</div>

<span lang="EN"></span><br />
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">The title of this blog might not be familiar with many of my friends but just for them, this is the same title as the movie directed by Satyajit Ray. It literally means "In the land of diamond king". When we were growing up this movie appealed to us in a way like any other fairly tale had. Now that we are able to see and conceive the world around us this movie had unfolded a new meaning and dimension before us. The greatness of Satyajit Ray was that his movies transcended the boundary of time and today when we look around the political scenario it looks like the movie being played in front of our eyes.</span></div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">The story is set in a fairy land which is known to be rich and famous as it has diamond mines called <i>Hirak Rajya</i> (Land of Diamonds). The main protagonist of the movie <i>Goopy </i>and<i> Bagha</i> are bored with their lives as crown prince’s of <i>Shundi </i>and<i> Halla</i> gets a chance to visit <i>Hirak Rajya</i>. On reaching there they realize that the king is a tyrant. Diamonds and riches get pent up in his treasuries, while his subjects starve and suffer. Those who protest are taken care of in the <i>'Jantarmantar</i>', a chamber for brainwashing devised by a famous scientist who is sponsored by the King. The only enemy the king has in his land is <i>Udayan Pandit</i>. He is a school teacher and, more than that, he is a believer of values and who speaks his mind freely in public. Now through various struggles <i>Udayan</i> along with <i>Goopy</i> and <i>Bagha</i> manages to dethrone the kind and brainwash him to such an extent that in the last scene he is seen to bring his own statue down.</span></div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">We as Indians harp about our erstwhile culture, history and growth story but inside the story is same, rich becoming richer, poor becoming poorer. Citizens can’t raise their voice. Those who protest are either killed or silenced with muscle power. May be there is few people who gather strength to protect against the government but that never bulges into a movement to dethrone the ruler. People are brainwashed during election time and then for the next five year they pay heavy price for that brain washing. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">The past three years when the country was trying to prevent itself from economic collapse it came across the biggest scams of the millennium. If that wasn’t enough,the decision of the central government on key issues were so lame duck that now the country is liming towards self destruction. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">A few of the decisions in the last few months were so baffling that I am yet to find any logical explanation to them:</span></div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">1) A cameraman caught few ministers watching porn in assembly - Result: media is now banned from entering assembly.</span></div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">2) There is a rise of crime against women in Gurgaon - Result: Women are advised not to venture out after 8:00pm </span></div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">3) Indian railways needs fund to modernize and improve its infrastructure and the obvious choice is raising the fare - Result: The coalition partner destabilize the government.</span></div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div align="justify" dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">The greatest difference between movies and real life is that, in movies the ending always makes the audience happy. We see the <i>Hirok Raja </i>after being brainwashed in his own machine bringing down his own statue and ending the tyrant rule. When will this happen in real life? A country with so much potential is being slowly consumed in the smoke of the fire which is self ignited. I have merely found some striking similarity between my childhood fairy tale story and the rule that we are witnessing now. And like that fairy tale story I want the tyrant rule to end. When will this happen?</span></div>

<span style="color: black; font-family: Tahoma; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"><span style="color: black; font-family: Tahoma; font-size: x-small;"></span></span></span><br />
<div dir="ltr">
<div dir="ltr">
<div dir="ltr">
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">It’s often argued that cinema acts as a mirror of the society. No matter how blurred the image, the mirror shows, it succeeds to portray a generic sketches of the society of the prevailing time. Taking this argument forward does it mean that the hero’s portrayed in today’s Hindi movie reflect the general psychology of Indian male. The reason for bringing out this argument is that many of the old movies are remade recently and you can see the difference in the on screen character across the generation.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">Movies like <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Umrao Jaan, Don, Agneepath</i> etc. has been remade in recent time and the characters of <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Nawab Sultan Khan, Vijay(aka Don)</i> or <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Vijay Dinanath Chauhan </i>have undergone drastic change. Can this change be attributed to the change in masculinity over the ages? <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">Why only stick to Hero’s alone..even villains have undergone transformation. They are no longer the bad guys who get beaten up in the end. They are cleaver and suave and stylish. The heroes on the other hand are more health conscious and come clean shaven irrespective of the scene. If he is not going to college or spending his dad’s money he may be seen romancing the heroine on some exotic locales. The heroes are now born in well to do families and no longer struggles to stay alive (At least in most cases). This fact seems to highlight the rise of the middle class in urban India. It’s no longer the days where old spice is a luxury but Hugo Boss is a part of most wardrobes these days. The urbanization and rise of multiplexes in India means that people are not interested to see the poor guy and rich girl story nor are they interested to see the angry young man. People are more willing to see an understanding man who loves and loves to be loved. He is non violent and would go to any extent to please the lady love but since there is no villain so his physical ability is never questioned. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">The hero of yester years were not too keen to tear their shirt or show his martial art skills and in pretext show off his sculpted body. His appeal was the raw kick and punch that he would use to overpower the villain to rescue his lady love. The victory of good over evil would come at the cost of death and destruction around him. Today the struggle is more against the system or ones inner self. The good old days of bad villain is gone now.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">The modern hero does not have to deal with widow mother and an unmarried sister who is always the target of the villain or his sidekick. He is brought up well and not much time is given to his family. If required then only a sister or uncle or dad is put in the movie. Yes the nucleated family is very well reflected in the screen play and the selfishness and individualism is very well reflected in his mannerism. This is a social change which we can’t deny. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">The <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Vinay, Vijay, Vishwanath</i> is replaced by <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Raj, Sid, Chulbul Pandey</i> ‘s in the movie. Not to forget the importance of item number in the script. In the earlier movies if and only if there is a <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Don</i> or a <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Gabbar Singh</i> in the movie one could expect <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Helen</i> aunty to dance to keep him happy. The set up now has changed to urban India but the mindset of audience has not changed hence the need for item number has gone up. Today the publicity of a movie depends on the peppy numbers that are used in the disc & night clubs across the country so the producers have no choice but to hire a <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Munni</i> or <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Sheila.</i></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">Gone are the days of poetic lyrics and soulful voices, today’s hero can sing songs in different voices and he is not too bothered behind the poetry behind it. So long as he can lip sync it properly the girl standing in front would be impressed. This is because today the world runs on quantity and not quality. No one cares if your movie has become silver jubilee or golden jubilee. If they can recover the producer money in the first week shows then the project is successful. Yes movies are a project now and executed with precision and planning. You don’t get a year to complete your project. It must be done at max 180 days with 30 days to top it up with publicity. The PR team earns more than the singers of the movie so I guess we should restrict our expectation regarding the emotional aspect of movie making.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">The story of the movie always appeals to the movie goers. This one common factor ties all the generations together. But the star appeal today and help the producer to recover his money in the 1st weekend even the movie is a complete trash. Hence the star sometimes becomes bigger than the movie which is acceptable so long as the product is good. Yes movie is an entertainment product for us, the consumers. I guess this mentality stems from the economic environment around us. The consumer chooses the product based on reviews and word of mouth publicity.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;">So cinema is undergoing an evolution from becoming a piece of art to a FMCG product. There is no harm with this change so long as people get the value of the money they spent. Heroes and villains are also under going change to suit the demands of the people. The evolution of Indian men and his masculinity is a similar process. We all welcome this change. The evolution of humans is always accompanied by change and so this process is one of the most natural manifestations of nature.</span></div>

This gesture will show my solidarity to an octogenarian man fighting against corruption which is crippling this great nation. The whole nation is gripped with the wave of a second freedom movement. A movement to make India corruption free. Do I support this movement? Yes of course I do. Do I support the method of protest..well considering the method in which our politicians work I feel there is no other way out. </div><div closure_uid_jov8p="97"><br />
</div></div></div></div><div closure_uid_btdsb8="111" style="text-align: justify;"><div closure_uid_igoxtl="111">There is a strange irony in the whole scenario. We are up at arms against the people whom we have chosen two years ago with a landslide majority to govern the nation. So what happened in the past two years that we are ready to throw them away with a civil movement? Actually corruption was very much a part and parcel of politics but now more of these have been exposed and hence people have seen how much the politicians can stoop low.</div><div closure_uid_igoxtl="111"><br />
</div></div><div closure_uid_btdsb8="111" style="text-align: justify;"><div closure_uid_igoxtl="112">It’s a cumulative frustration of people that have galvanized them to be a part of the movement led by Anna Hazare. People want accountability of government and want to know how their tax is utilized for nation building. Lokpal bill probably will give people the right to question their leader. But it’s difficult to pass this bill through parliament as no thug will dig his own grave. Not a single politician will support the bill tabled by Anna Hazare because it will bring an abrupt end to the business of politics where rags to riches is the most common path up the ladder.</div><div closure_uid_igoxtl="112"><br />
</div></div><div closure_uid_btdsb8="112" style="text-align: justify;"><div closure_uid_igoxtl="113">Politicians have created another version of Lokpal bill which will safeguard their interest and yet bring about minor change in the system. This bill will probably be like our age old constitution which has everything but does nothing. </div><div closure_uid_igoxtl="113"><br />
</div></div><div closure_uid_btdsb8="113" style="text-align: justify;"><div closure_uid_igoxtl="114">These two versions of the bill are now at loggerhead and this deadlock is not going to end soon. So it’s a war against elected representative of people and self nominated civil rights activists. The most important question now is that who represents the people’s mandate? If people don’t believe in the ruling government then that government has no right to continue in power. There are various views about the demands made by Anna Hazare or other civil society activists but one thing is for sure the political clan is very united to protect their bread butter and scams. So how does this deadlock end? There are various unanswered questions that have evolved around this crisis. The bottom line is clear corruption must be stopped at any cost but the process remains undefined. </div><div closure_uid_igoxtl="114"><br />
</div></div><div closure_uid_btdsb8="114" style="text-align: justify;"><div closure_uid_igoxtl="115">The whole democratic process in this country and the constitution itself has been under question from changing socio-political scenario. There is a radical change required in the constitution itself and the first step to that may be this bill. When the elected representatives become arrogant and take their power for granted it’s the people who should remind them the source of their power. This is what Anna Hazare has done. It does not really matter if he is not a Mahatma or a Gandhi but what matter is the fact that he has captured the imagination of the youth and old and has fuelled an agitation which may change the face of nation.</div><div closure_uid_igoxtl="115"><br />
</div></div><div closure_uid_91fgsl="122" closure_uid_btdsb8="115" style="text-align: justify;">Indian democracy is fighting its war of existence. The road it will choose from this chaos will determine the future of this nation.</div></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14899414823998781962noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29337429.post-39621855303078163272011-02-11T14:30:00.001+05:302011-02-11T14:32:47.355+05:30127 Hours<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">A man and his desire to survive the worst of hopeless situation in life sums up the story of 127 Hours. The film is based on the real-life adventure of Aaron Ralston, as documented in the book “<strong><em>Between A Rock And A Hard Place</em></strong>”. The extreme biker and climber met with a freak accident in 2003 when his hand got trapped under a boulder during a climbing expedition in Utah. The mountaineer spent five grueling days all by himself in this life-threatening situation before he could extricate himself and reach out for help. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">This simple plot has been woven into a compelling movie by Danny Boyle and A.R.Rahman’s haunting tune(<em>I felt some of the tracks were used in Raavan as well</em>) adds to the pulsating drama. Most of the movie you would stare at close up shots of James Franco who brings out the emotions of a man trapped between life and death. It’s a tough movie to sit through specially the last 15 minutes yet in the end one feels the compelling urge to celebrate life.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I won’t be surprised if James Franco wins the Best Actor award in Oscars this year. Off course I have not yet seen the Social Network but so far his performance has stood out among the movies I saw last year. The best part of the movie is the way Aaron’s inner feelings and fears are portrayed through the various pieces of memories in his mind. And how is premonition of his future gives him the strength to cut his own hand in order to survive. This movie is a classic lesson of ‘mind over matter’. It shows how hope and desire to live overcomes physical challenges. Unless you are faint hearted do watch this movie.</span></div></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14899414823998781962noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29337429.post-88714638726618017922011-01-25T13:45:00.002+05:302011-01-25T13:48:41.416+05:30Enjoy another Holiday..Dont bother about Nation<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">On 26 January 1950, India became a republic and a new constitution came into effect under which India was established as a secular and a democratic state. So we are celebrating 61st year of being a secular republic. We are the largest democracy in the world. We are proud to have produced people who have excelled in different works of life. That’s what I get to read through email chains and scraps and tweets and blogs. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">We deliberately or unconsciously ignore the underbelly of this nation. </span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">We are the nation that faces challenges from religious violence, casteism, naxalism, terrorism and regional separatist insurgencies, especially in Jammu and Kashmir and northeastern India. India has unresolved territorial disputes with the People's Republic of China, which, in 1962, escalated into the Sino-Indian War, and with Pakistan, which resulted in wars in 1947, 1965, 1971 and 1999.We proudly sit on top of corruption list and dirtiest cities of the world. Yet I am supposed to be a proud Indian and endorse the tricolor.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of Independent India, in his special message to his countrymen, on the birth of the Indian Republic, said: </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">"<em>We must re-dedicate ourselves on this day to the peaceful but sure realization of the dream that had inspired the Father of our Nation and the other captains and soldiers of our freedom struggle, the dream of establishing a classless, co-operative, free and happy society in 'his country'. We must remember that this is more a day of dedications than of rejoicing - dedication to the glorious task of making the peasants and workers the toilers and the thinkers fully free, happy and cultured</em>."</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">If we go by his word we have been a big failure as a Republic by his words yet we are we one of the strongest force of this century. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Lets look at what the preamble to our constitution was:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><em>WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><em>JUSTICE, social, economic and political; </em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><em>LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship; </em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><em>EQUALITY of status and of opportunity; </em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><em>and to promote among them all </em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><em>FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation; </em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><em>IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do HEREBY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Going by the preamble I can question on JUSTICE,LIBERTY,EQUALITY,FRATERNITY in today’s context. We have been given FUNDAMENTAL rights. We not only forget our DUTIES but also expand our FUNDAMENTAL rights to an extent that it crosses hand with the law which is old enough not to cope with present generation.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Tomorrow when I wake up I will enjoy another holiday as the reason for holiday has long lost its importance and value. We can all hope for HOPE.</span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14899414823998781962noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29337429.post-61632742071185979642010-11-10T14:50:00.003+05:302010-11-10T14:53:55.237+05:30A vision through the maze<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Who is a true leader? There is no concrete answer to this question. History is filled with depiction of great men who have made their mark but does it mean all of them are great leader. Looking back at Indian History we have come across people who have been able to change the course of this nation but searching through their lives you will not find many leaders.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">There have been people who have been able to garner faith and respect of people and have transformed themselves to a level where people would naturally follow them. Moving up the corporate ladder makes me realize that the huge potential of the industry at the bottom of the pyramid which gets squandered because there is not many people to channelize this potential. Most people up the pyramid are leader by designation and not by ability. It’s a big statement to make but this is blunt truth. Our corporate structure is not aimed in grooming leaders so in a few years we might find a problem of plenty. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">When we entered the industry (Software Industry) way back in 2004 the head count in companies were relatively low. 2004-2006 had seen the intake of huge number of people. Now the leaders we had seen during our initial period were mostly guys who have worked for 10-15 years as Computer Engineers. The catch here is when they graduated most of the students used to opt for jobs in fields like Electronics, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical etc. So we haven’t really seen the best of leaders. So whatever we learnt from them on leadership is really questionable.7 years down the line we are now in the mid management level where it’s expected that we will lead the pack. The problem is not only there are too many such people but also most of them are not well groomed. If you think this is the only problem then you are missing the point, the guys who were your leaders 7 years ago have become managers now. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">So the scenario is we are getting bright and enthusiastic fresher’s who are managed by half baked leaders like us who is turn is reporting to people who once was discarded by the booming industries during their hay days. This is creating a huge gulf between expectation and outcome in all possible ways. I have observed the side effect of this situation:</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">• There is lack of trust and faith on leadership as we move up the pyramid </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">• Lack of self confidence and self belief among fresher’s who does not have many to look up to</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">• People changing job at the drop of hat</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">• Lack of vision and direction in governance</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">• HR under pressure to retain talent</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"></span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">• Management working behind closed doors like some secret society</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"></span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">• Lack of transparency and vision</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">• Lack of innovation and growth opportunity</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Although I have seen people who have stood out and made a good example of themselves and have been leaders whom we can look up to. But their efforts are often overshadowed by the many who have failed to deliver. Companies are determined to make profit and maintain their growth rate so they push the managers who in turn push their subordinates and ultimately its bottom layer of this pyramid who are crushed. We are not in a sugarcane industry that by crushing more we will get better sugar!!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">The companies have formulated policies to ensure that this situation does not arise but often those policies are flaunted to suit the benefit of few and eventually it harms everyone in the long run. The greatest results in life are usually attained by simple means and the exercise of ordinary qualities. These may for the most part be summed in these two: common-sense and perseverance. Problem is today the mantra have been changed. There is nothing called common sense people goes by the rule-book wherever required and flaunts the rules for his/her own benefit. Today perseverance pays you nothing unless you are smart to show off your perseverance. It’s all about marketing. It’s all about blowing your own trumpet and keeps the show running. Leadership skill or no Leadership skill if you are making profit you will be there. You PR and Communication skill will help you project as a great person whose project is making huge profit and the metrics number shows great improvement over the months. Your management will kiss you even if your team members are showing traits of being suicidal or depression.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I know there is no point writing these already known facts. There is no point raising the questions which is already known. There is no point discussing problems as I may not be able to solve the problems. I have tried to work my way out through certain situations so that I may be able to share the solution with all but not always I have succeeded. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">But few things that work are: </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">• Accept and be indifferent </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">• Never be loyal to your company but be loyal to your work </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">• Learn as much as possible from the right people.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">• Lead by example not by power points.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">• Don’t try to change the system either adopt or be adopted</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">We can’t change but we can make a difference. Difference that may change the way our future welcomes us.</span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14899414823998781962noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29337429.post-33483693537156743332010-08-15T17:26:00.002+05:302011-02-11T14:36:10.734+05:30Fir Mile tum mera tumhara-is it??<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I have been planning to write on this topic for a long time now. But thought to ignore it thinking how it matters. Today when the entire TV channels has been showing the new edition of the song “<em>Mile Sur Mera Tumhara</em>” I just could not take it anymore. The earlier edition of the song brought out the Indian integrity and sense of national belonging. This song shows India has 60% television stars, 25% singer’s 8 % sports stars and rest few second for army men. This pathetic version of this song features a Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra or Deepika Padukone whose contribution to the nation is perhaps greater than an APJ Abul Kalam or a Saurav ganguly or a Mahendra Singh Dhoni or Narayana Murthy – this is an insult if the maker of the song thinks it in this way. They did not even feature a Sachin Tendulkar but after public hue and cry they included him but that does not end the pathetic appeal of the song. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">If these people define Indian independence and integrity then god save the country. Does our country comprise of these people or have these people taken up the onus of serving as the face of nation. The earlier song had people from various fields like literature, art ,music, sports, movies just to name a few…This version has Bollywood written all over it. I question the presence of many celebrities in this song. I question the song being played on Independence Day. This is a nation you are talking about not a fictitious world like Bollywood.</span></div></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14899414823998781962noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29337429.post-19315873115273870462010-08-15T02:15:00.005+05:302010-08-15T02:21:00.116+05:30Peepli [Live]<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"></span><meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type"></meta><meta content="Word.Document" name="ProgId"></meta><meta content="Microsoft Word 12" name="Generator"></meta><meta content="Microsoft Word 12" name="Originator"></meta><link href="file:///G:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5Csrt%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsohtmlclip1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml" rel="File-List"></link><link href="file:///G:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5Csrt%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsohtmlclip1%5C01%5Cclip_themedata.thmx" rel="themeData"></link><link href="file:///G:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5Csrt%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsohtmlclip1%5C01%5Cclip_colorschememapping.xml" rel="colorSchemeMapping"></link> <m:smallfrac m:val="off"> <m:dispdef> <m:lmargin m:val="0"> <m:rmargin m:val="0"> <m:defjc m:val="centerGroup"> <m:wrapindent m:val="1440"> <m:intlim m:val="subSup"> <m:narylim m:val="undOvr"> </m:narylim></m:intlim> </m:wrapindent><style>

Coming from a first time director the movie is a wonderful dark movie coated with humor. Although the movies looses its way into predictable format in the second half but yet it highlights serious issues plaguing journalism, media ,politics and how government schemes are misutilized. The ending would perhaps make you feel disappointed but the first surely lives up to the expectation. It’s more like an art-house movie promoted like a commercial one.</span></span></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS","sans-serif"; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> </span><br style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;" /><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The strength of the movie lies in the characterization. Each character in the movie is realistic and one can relate to their pathos. The main character who has few dialogues in the movies yet his mannerism and expression invokes a sense of sympathy throughout the movie. His elder brother, his wife, his mother all adds up to a wonderful example of poverty in India. The local politician, the chief minister, the agriculture minister all falls into perfect shape. The journalist and the TV channels activities shown across the movie only show the knowledge of the director coming from the same background. Finally the rivalry between Hindi and English news channel are brought to open.</span></span></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS","sans-serif"; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> </span><br style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;" /><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The movie also questions journalism and role of media in building up nation. It has shown how news is manufactured from events which are sale-able as per TRP while the real news gets sidelined. Poverty is highlighted with power pact humor for the very first time. When the protagonist <i>Nattha</i> is tricked into committing suicide by his own brother one feels their funny bones tickled. There are few moments which according to me keep the movie alive.</span></span></span></div><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS","sans-serif"; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The discussion of the local journalist with the journalist of the English movie channel brings out the reality of news reporting done today. Its disturbing but commercially practical.</span></span></span></li>

<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Dear Wife, </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">1. Between 11 June and 11 July 2010, you should read the sports section of the newspaper so that you aware of what is going on regarding the World of Soccer, and that way you will be able to join in the conversations. If you fail to do this, then you will be looked at in a bad way, or you will be totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not receiving any attention? </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">2. During the World Cup, the television is mine, at all times, without any exceptions. If you even take a glimpse of the remote control, you will lose it (your eye). </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">3. If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don’t mind, as long as you do it crawling on the floor and without distracting me. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">4. During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute, unless I require a refill my drink or something to eat. You are out off your mind if you expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone, or pick up the baby that just fell on the floor....It won't happen.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">5. It would be a good idea for you to keep at least 2 six packs in the fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to nibble on (excluding your body parts), and please do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over to watch the games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between 12 am and 6 am, unless they replay a good game that I missed during the day. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">6. Please, please, please!! If you see me upset because one of my teams is losing, DO NOT say "get over it, it's only a game", or "don’t worry, they'll win next time"". If you say these things, you will only make me angrier and I will love you less. Remember, you will never ever know more about football than mime and you’re so called "words of Encouragement"" will only lead to a break up or divorce.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">7. You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game and you u can talk to me during halftime but only when the commercials are on, and only if the half time scores is pleasing me. In addition, please note I am saying "one" game; Hence does not use the World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse too "spend time together". </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">8. The replays of the goals are very important. I don't care if II have seen them or I haven't seen them, I want to see Then again, Many times. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><br />
</span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child related parties or gatherings that requires my attendance because: </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">a)) I will not go, </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">b)) I will not go, and </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">c)) I will not go. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">10. But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house on a Sunday to watch a game, we will be there in a flash. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">11. The daily World Cup highlights show on TV every night is just as important as the games themselves. Do not even think about saying "but you have already seen this...why don’t you change e the channel to something we can all Watch?" because, the reply will l be, "Refer to Rule #2 of this list". </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">12. And finally, please save your expressions such as "Thank Good the World Cup is only every 4 years". I am immune to these words, because before and after this comes the Champions League, Premier League, Italian League, Spanish League, KPL, FAA Cup, Euro Cup, etc. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">P.S:</span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">By the way if you get stuck on the road call the Police or 100. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Thank you for your cooperation. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> Husband</span></span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14899414823998781962noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29337429.post-49455251037111393082010-05-26T14:33:00.002+05:302010-05-26T14:37:13.234+05:30Search Engines goes on Strike.<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Today while discussing the Air India strike during Lunch hour we chanced to discuss a scenario if all Search Engine go on strike. What will happen to our lives??</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">It’s theoretically impossible for that to happen but just by chance if all the servers shut down some day what will happen. I am sure the mass of India would remain unaffected but considering the usage of Google worldwide, I can imagine a mini dark age to be dawn on the netizens.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Trying to find the how much the world uses search engine I went to http://www.google.com/trends . The statistics generated there is mind boggling. The usage of Google for education/work/entertainment has virtually created a matrix of its own. Imagining a day without this matrix means a virtual shutdown of an important part of life.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Just imagines all Search Engines goes on strike on a Saturday. I won’t be able to get quick references to websites, phone numbers, address etc and would be completely lost in World Wide Web.N</span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">ow imagine this for everyone. It will be a virtual dark age minus all online communication. A part of your identity will stop functioning. But there is a catch. This will probably give the time to use our brains whose grey matters are slowly replaced by Google search. Today thoughts and memories are dependent on Google search engines. So without the search engines we would struggle on many aspects of our lives.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">The web now has become so large and complex that without search engines we will be lost in the labyrinth of words and images and videos. The search engines are the torch to search our way through this maze of information. So without this torch we are doomed.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Honestly I would like to see the actual affect of this scenario. I am sure no company will shut its server down for this kind of social experiment which amounts to losses of millions of USD. But we should ponder over this scenario. The dependency on a virtual network has grown so much over the last 5 years that the question arises “Are we ready for Search Engines, if it decides to go on strike”??</span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14899414823998781962noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29337429.post-24828345263407173622010-04-15T12:38:00.014+05:302010-04-15T12:55:17.950+05:30Height of 'Optimisim' of a die hard fan<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Being an Optimist I'm quite flabbergasted that SRK has already begun apologising when KKR is very much in the reckoning for a semi-final spot especially with the MASSIVE advantage of playing the the last 2 games at home and the final game against a team that has already qualified. They will know the exact run-rate required if it comes down to that and they'll be up against a not-so-motivated Mumbai side who might just take it easy.The road to semifinal will be as shown below:</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">15 Apr DD must beat CSK | DD 14 from 13 matches CSK 12 from 13 matches</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">16 Apr KXIP must beat DC | DC 12 from 13 games KXIP 10 from 13 games</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">17 Apr MI beats RC | RC is 14 from 14 matches</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">17 Apr KKR beats RR | KKR 12 from 13 matches and RR 12 from 14 matches</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">18 Apr KXIP beat CSK | CSK 12 from 14 games KXIP 12 from 14 games</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">18 Apr DD beat DC | DD 16 from 14 game DC 12 from 14 games</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">19 Apr KKR beats MI | KKR 14 from 14 matches </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">So other than Mumbai the semifinalist would be RC,KKR,DD. The bottomline is KKR has to win which is too much of expectation from them considering their present performance.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Interestingly KXIP can also reach semifinal if this happens:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><br />
</span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">15 Apr DD must beat CSK | DD 14 from 13 matches CSK 12 from 13 matches</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">16 Apr KXIP must beat DC |DC 12 from 13 games KXIP 10 from 13 games</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">17 Apr MI beats RC | RC 14 from 14 matches</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">17 Apr KKR beats RR | KKR 12 from 13 matches and RR 12 from 14 matches</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">18 Apr KXIP beat CSK | CSK 12 from 14 games KXIP 12 from 14 games</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">18 Apr DD beat DC | DD 16 from 14 game DC 12 from 14 games</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">19 Apr MI beats KKR | KKR 12 from 14 matches </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">So other than Mumbai the semifinalists would be RC & DD. The final spot would on run rate between RR,KKR,KXIP,DC,CSK.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Cricket is a funny game and there is a possibility that one of these two equations being correct.</span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14899414823998781962noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29337429.post-4104036292201472332010-03-31T14:44:00.006+05:302010-03-31T14:50:19.134+05:30L S D<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">It’s a good idea to import Tarantino’s movie making style mixed with the style from “<em>Blair Witch Project</em>”/ “<em>Paranormal Activity</em>” to set a new dimension in Bollywood movie making. The problem is, handling such a task needs an understanding of Indian audience. Dibakar Banerjee has made a wonderful attempt to bring out a new dimension in movie making with his movie “<em>Love,Sex aur Dhoka</em>” but the representation lacks the sensitivity of putting forward a critical social issues taken up in the movies.</span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">One can argue its reality shown at point blank. I agree to this but what’s the whole of showing them? Does this movie serve the purpose of raising social awareness? No. Is this a “<em>Paisa Vasool</em>” movie? No. So if the movie is neither social nor entertainment then why make this movie at all? </span></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">This movie has 3 distinct real life stories shot in cam coder mode showing three independent interrelated stories to bring the concept of Love,Sex and Dhoka as applicable to modern world. The first story deals with honor killing. The second one deals with voyeurism and pornography while the third one deals with exploitation in entertainment industry juxtaposed with sting operation.India has read these stories in some form or other in recent past and the movies just brings it out in celluloid screen. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> <br>Director Dibakar Banerjee has made a wonderful attempt to bring out a new idea to bollywood film making. If you really want to watch the movie then go with an open mind to experience something new. Whether you will like the new thing or not will be entirely your discretion. As for me I am yet to decide whether to love it or hate it.</span></div></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14899414823998781962noreply@blogger.com0
